Christina Ricci's ready to get wed Christina Ricci's ready to get wed: "She has been dating Saving Private Ryan star Adam Goldberg for the past year. (Pic: Pathe Distribution Ltd) Asked about her relationship, she said: 'I would marry Adam because I am very traditional and conservative. 'I definitely want children. I probably wouldn't plan to have a child before I was married but you can't control everything.' Christina is currently starring in the horror film, Cursed directed by Wes Craven. Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg play siblings who are mauled by a werewolf that is on the loose in Los Angeles. They suddenly find themselves physically stronger, more alert, and increasingly attractive to those around them - but their power comes at a price." Friday, April 08, 2005
Ricci has cameo on new Beck album mtv.com - News - Beck Is Reflected In Baby Guero, Has More Music Ready: "In contrast, Guero is anything but simple - it's all over the place, with guest spots from Christina Ricci ('Hell Yes') and Jack White ('Go it Alone'), digitized power ballads, bossa nova, slide guitar, jungle beats, low-rider street noise and mariachi horns. Even when the songs aren't overtly angry, as is the case with the breezy 'Girl,' his lyrics suggest a darker undercurrent: 'I'm gonna steal her eye/ She doesn't even know what's wrong/ And I know I'm gonna make her die.' Beck is quick to add that the anger isn't an empty exercise, citing his first single, 'E-Pro,' which decries the 'twisted tongues' and 'talking trash' surrounding him. 'It's kind of letting out an intense feeling, and it's looking for some kind of humanity, trying to find something above the anger,' he said. 'And it's about loud guitars,' he laughed." 'Prozac Nation', with Christina Ricci, on brighter side of mediocrity Philadelphia Daily News | 03/18/2005 | 'Prozac Nation' on brighter side of mediocrity: "Miramax shelved the drama for so long that you might expect it to be much worse than it actually is. In fact, this adaptation of Elizabeth Wurtzel's aggressively needy memoir - finally being seen thanks to Miramax founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein splitting with Disney - is not just better than the book. It's also firmly on the brighter side of mediocrity. Christina Ricci, looking more beautiful than she has before or since, stars as Elizabeth, an aspiring journalist sulking her way through Harvard. Director Erik Skjoldbjaerg (he made the Norwegian film on which 2002's 'Insomnia' was based) films her various indulgences - drugs, alcohol, sex - in a kind of predictable haze, but, unlike the book, Elizabeth does not come off as completely loathsome. Her mental breakdowns, her ill-advised relationships (Jason Biggs is one of the boyfriends), her fights with her scattered mom (Jessica Lange), her showdowns with her therapist (Heche) - all seem, if not hugely original or meaningful, at least moderately entertaining." 'Cursed', starring Christina Ricci, a Lame, Rushed Attempt From Wes Craven KGET 17 || ENTERTAINMENT: "With his latest steaming pile of a werewolf movie called 'Cursed,' Craven has treaded into George Lucas territory, meaning that he was out of the game way too long before returning to filmmaking and making a successful run at it. His last film, 'Scream 3' (which wasn't all that bad; better than 'Scream 2,' anyway), came in 2000, and we hadn't heard from him since. It is well known by the communities of both movie geeks and film critics alike that Craven is a man of many talents, including the ability to scare the hell out of you, which he did very effectively in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Scream,' two rightful cult horror classics. Teaming again with his 'Scream' scriptwriter, Kevin Williamson (also of 'Dawson's Creek' infamy), Craven has brought us 'Cursed,' the tale of a brother and sister both bitten by a looming werewolf (fresh off ripping a car-wrecked Shannon Elizabeth apart) on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles. The brother, Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg), swears he saw the beast and, through some successful Internet research, discovers that he and his sister, Ellie (Christina Ricci), are making their own slow transformations into werewolves themselves, though they never quite make it." Craven 'Cursed' by predictability in werewolf tale, starring Christina Ricci Craven 'Cursed' by predictability in werewolf tale: "Like a werewolf in a full moon, it crept stealthily into theaters over the weekend and, without first screening for critics, it pounced onto unsuspecting audiences. The name Wes Craven still has currency with horror aficionados, but 'Cursed' is a third-rate effort, with a weak script, cheap-looking effects and no genuine frights. That the movie isn't scary is not for lack of trying. Throughout, Craven attempts to jolt the audience, each time by having someone unexpectedly enter the frame to the accompaniment of some loud, thudding chord on the soundtrack. Craven carts out that device about once every five minutes. Each time, the audience sits there, undisturbed. Christina Ricci plays a segment producer for a late night talk show, who, driving with her younger brother one night, gets into a bad car accident. Into this already stressful situation -- they're struggling to rescue a woman who's trapped in her car -- the film injects a superfluous werewolf, who tears the woman to pieces and also takes small chunks out of Ellie (Ricci) and brother Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg)." Christina Ricci 'Cursed' CBS News | Christina Ricci 'Cursed' | February 24, 2005 11:00:13: "Christina Ricci is no stranger to the supernatural, having starred in big screen versions of 'The Addams Family,' 'Casper,' and 'Sleepy Hollow.' Her latest film film, 'Cursed,' finds her fighting a new beast. 'I was really, really excited' to get the call from director Wes Craven to do this film, Ricci tells The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith. 'I just finished doing 'Monster,' and it was heavier. I came back to L.A., and they're, like, 'Oh, there's this Wes Craven murder film,' ' Ricci says. 'And I thought, 'Oh, cool. I'd do that kind of movies in that kind of genre. I should probably work for him.' ' Craven and writer Kevin Williamson, the creators of 'Scream,' teamed up once again to offer in 'Curse' a twist on classic monster fables, unleashing omens into the modern world. Ricci's 'Prozac Nation' finally set for release CHRISTINA RICCI - PROZAC NATION FINALLY SET FOR RELEASE: "CHRISTINA RICCI's movie PROZAC NATION is finally set to see the light of day more than for years after it was made - on cable TV. The adaptation of ELIZABETH WURTZEL's 1994 bestselling depression memoir, which features Ricci as the pill-popping Wurtzel and JESSICA LANGE as her mother, reportedly sat on the shelf for such a long time after a negative reaction from test audiences. But the $9 million (GBP4.7 million) movie will now be released on American cable network STARZ! next month (MAR05). STEPHAN SHELANSKI, senior vice president of programming for the network, tells ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, 'It's a good film. (The movie's difficult subject matter) may have had a hard time attracting people to theatres. 'Starz! is in 15 million homes, so if the movie reaches 20 per cent of our viewers, that's 3 million right there.' Bosses at MIRAMAX, who plans to release the film on DVD eventually, say of the reported $900,000 (GBP473,684) deal, '(It's) a great way for a larger audience to see the film.'" |
